Resource Access Management

Traditionally, Degreed’s application model had all resources visible by default, including content, career development plans, learning pathways, required training, job opportunities, and people. We heard from clients that they were concerned about security and wanted more flexibility and control over who could manage and view these resources.

To address this, we flipped the model to a “deny by default” system. We designed a solution that allows clients to easily control resource access by granting management or visibility rights to individuals or groups. This approach enhances security while ensuring a smooth transition to the new model for clients.

My Role

I collaborated closely with leadership, engineering, and product management to define requirements, explore design solutions, and ensure an intuitive user experience. I was responsible for translating complex security needs into an easy-to-use interface, facilitating discussions on trade-offs, and I am currently working closely with engineering to bring the solution to life.
